R+L Global Logistics is seeking an Industrial Engineer for our 3rd Party Warehouse and Fulfillment services The Industrial Engineer is responsible for recommending development and design processes or necessary changes to reduce operating costs within a 3rd Party Logistics environment. 

Industrial Engineer Summary of Key Responsibilities

 Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzes and designs sequence of operations and work flow to improve efficiencies, and establishes methods for maximum utilization of warehouse facilities and personnel
  • Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems
  • Develop new layouts of equipment and work-space for maximum efficiency
  • Understand and apply essential LEAN elements like workflow smoothing.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in proven industry methods and tools such as value-stream mapping and 5S
  • Establishes work measurement programs and analyzes work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Partner with key functional groups that are part of implementation to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Determines feasibility of projects factoring costs, available space, schedule limitations, organization goals, technical requirements and economic factors.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional projects with customers and other departments as required.

Industrial Engineer Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to evaluate and plan facility layouts to ensure optimal utilization of warehouse space
  • Ability to plan and allocate resources for various projects
  • Excellent communication skills, detailed, able to handle multiple tasks, and self-motivated to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements in a warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and ISO requirements
  • Knowledge of hazardous material loading requirements and restrictions
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently

Industrial Engineer Qualifications

Summary of Experience and Education 

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or other related field of study preferred
  • Six Sigma or continuous improvement and/or lean initiatives experience a plus
  • Previous warehouse management systems (WMS) required, Deposco preferred
  • Previous experience with CAD design software systems
  • Previous experience working in a Distribution or 3rd Party Warehouse / Fulfillment environment preferred
